Well, what a fantastic day we had yesterday (13th Aug)! Probably one of the best we have ever had. One or two hiccups but, hey, we can live with that. Have to say a huge well done to everyone involved, particularly the boys on the Committee who put in a sterling effort to get that field looking as good as it did and for all the work they were still doing after everyone had gone home, particulary Alasdair Grant, Tom & Morag Robb and the Scouts Thank you too to everyone who made the effort to come along and enjoy the day. We had some great competitions, one record broken (22lb Hammer) and one nearly (Pole Vault) and a good turn-out of competitors all round. Well done to Connie too for being a terrific Chieftain. I think she enjoyed her day. Thanks again everyone for making all the work we put into it very worthwhile. See you all next year!

Hope to see you all again next year!

The Gathering Committee is absolutely delighted to announce that the Chieftain for this years Gathering will be Alastair Kennedy (or “Sugar” as many know him), current Executive Chairman of Nigg Skills Academy, Communications Director of Global Energy Group, and, of course, Director of Ross County Football Club where he is well known for hosting the Victoria Suite on match days. A former Highland League footballer himself, with Inverness Caley, Clach, Brora and Lossiemouth, he won the league 4 times and various cups in the mid-70s and early 80s. Alastair is also kept busy volunteering his services to the charitable organisation, the SHIRLIE Project and is also a member of the Highland Committee of the Scotland Council for Development and Industries (SCDI) and member of the Committee of the Lord Lieutenant for Ross & Cromarty, Skye & Lochalsh’s Youth Awards Scheme.
Alastair has enjoyed a wide and varied career in the private and public sectors, including managing branches for the Bank of Scotland’s asset finance companies and working as Head of Business Development for Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise.
Alastair says he is very honoured to have been asked to be Chieftain for 2018 and wishes everyone attending and supporting the event a great day out.
